Lawro - Newcastle
After the stick I've been getting from West Ham fans over my predictions, I should probably go for them to win 8-0.
In the past few seasons I have annoyed Southampton and Swansea fans by tipping them to lose, but I have never had supporters chanting my name over a prediction before, like the Hammers fans were doing at the end of their win at Bournemouth on Tuesday. It is all good fun, and I am really pleased they have continued to prove me wrong.

I thought their results would fall away after their good start, much like they did under Sam Allardyce last season, but they have picked up after a wobble where they did not win for eight games from the end of October.

I thought they would slip down the table but instead they have won their past four games in the league and FA Cup, and I have to take my hat off to them.

Newcastle were a bit unlucky not to get a draw at Watford in the FA Cup and stuck at it to pick up a point against Manchester United on Tuesday, so it seems Magpies boss Steve McClaren has found a way to get a response from his players after their poor form over Christmas.

Taking all of that into consideration, probably the only way I can upset anybody this time is by saying it is going to be a draw, so that is what I'm going for.

Lawro's prediction: 1-1

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but if we are sitting pretty in 4th/5th position come last game of the season, then we all need to be wearing lawro masks for the last game of the season.

Well stone me lawros only featured in the BBC report on The Lord janner abuse enquiry. Explains a lot!:

One man, Mark, who has never spoken about his experiences publicly before, said Lord Janner, a member of the Magic Circle, would undress him, wash him and touch him intimately, during visits to the Moel Llys children's home to perform magic shows.
Mark said he was 11 or 12 at the time. "It's mentally scarred me for life," he told the BBC. "I can never get rid of it. You feel ashamed and you feel dirty. Useless and worthless."

You just know when he eventually picks us to win we will get walloped. You just know.

Yep, he's only predicted us to win twice this season, both at home, against Bournemouth and West Brom. Which yielded one point

Fall away

Mark Lawrenson has gamely responded to the West Ham fans who chanted his name on Tuesday night after he predicted yet another defeat for a team now fifth in the Premier League table:

‘It is all good fun, and I am really pleased they have continued to prove me wrong,’ he says in this week’s BBC predictions.

‘I thought their results would fall away after their good start, much like they did under Sam Allardyce last season, but they have picked up after a wobble where they did not win for eight games from the end of October.’

‘I thought they would slip down the table but instead they have won their past four games in the league and FA Cup, and I have to take my hat off to them.’

You thought they would ‘fall away’? You thought they would ‘slip down the table’. According to your predictions, they have been in 19th for much of the season. How much further could they frigging ‘fall away’?

I don't believe the GTHC has enough words in his word-bag to have written all that - except maybe the last line, but, even then, with a lot of help from his carer.

Lawrenson is a master fisherman and we take the bait EVERY time.

Keep it up, Lawro, the knicker wetting you cause on here amuses me every time.

Same here, I actually chuckled a little reading his latest prediction.

The people that get wound up by him need to take a look at themselves.

I'm the same. Goughie last night on TS said we could be in with shout for top four as we have 'come through our bad patch'. I thought if losing 1 in 8 is a bad patch then I'll take that all day long.

Re: LAWRO - Newcastle
Newcastle are definitely a team with some new found confidence and buoyancy. Whether they can turn that into momentum and go on a run will probably be the factor which means McLaren keeping his job or not. I just hope they don't get going yet.

I think we will go there with absolutely no fear. We've got class players who are all confident. I am going to go for a very tight 1-3 seeing us nick out third right at the death to settle it.

I hate this whole no win in 8 games bollocks, being a glass half full kind of a man I prefer to say only 1 defeat in that same time.
